We are excited to announce that we are a certified B Corp™! B Corps are companies that use the power of business to build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.

Becoming a B Corp was a natural fit for us as it recognises the good work we do as a company in our own right. Whilst we hold ourselves to the high standards of our own programmes, carboNZero and Enviro-Mark, we can’t certify ourselves so we seek independent endorsement too.

Professor Zero, aka Enviro-Mark Solutions Chief Executive Dr Ann Smith, says “Adding B Corp certification to the suite of independent endorsements we already have, was the next natural step as we are always striving for improvement in how we operate as a business, as well as for our members.”

“B Corp status shows that we are all-rounders - we achieve good standards and scored well on governance, workers, customers, and the environment with our highest score for how we look after customers.”

The assessment process measures a company’s performance in five categories: governance, workers, customers, community, and the environment. In fact, the B Corp assessment is complementary to our certification programmes.

The next steps are to look at areas where we can improve our score which we’ll be assessing with our Board and at the organisation-wide level at our all staff conference in March.
