ANZCO Foods Limited
Originally established in 1984, and currently 100% owned by Itoham Yonekyu, ANZCO Foods has a proud history of bringing nutrition and good health from New Zealand’s finest beef and lamb products to the world. ANZCO Foods employs circa 3000 people, mainly in rural New Zealand communities; with this number of employees increasing during the peak kill seasons. ANZCO Foods is a member of the Climate Leaders Coalition, the Sustainable Business Council, and a founding member of the New Zealand Round Table for Sustainable Beef, of which Grant Bunting, GM of systems and supply is the current chairperson. This inventory report will assist in achieving the reporting requirements for these organisations. ANZCO Foods intends on releasing an inaugural sustainability report in May 2021.
ANZCO owns and operates seven processing sites and three manufacturing sites in Rangitikei, Bulls, Eltham, Waitara (2), Marlborough, Kokiri, Rakaia, Canterbury (Ashburton) and Green Island. The meat industry is subject to seasonal change, so these plants are situated in tactical locations, to best serve procuring animals from New Zealand’s expert farmers.
The company has a number of farms including New Zealand’s largest commercial feedlot Five Star Beef, and it owns and operates Bovogen Biologicals in Melbourne, and WAKANUI restaurants in Japan and Singapore. ANZCO’s corporate office is located in Christchurch, with a sales support office in Auckland and offshore offices in Japan, Europe, UK, Taiwan and Australia. ANZCO Foods also owns 50% of Taranaki Bio Extracts, 8.5% of The Lamb Cooperative, and 11.4% of the New Zealand and Australia Lamb Company.
ANZCO Foods is currently developing and ratifying its first climate change and sustainability strategy which forms part of the wider corporate strategy.
