Waste Disposal Services (WDS) is an unincorporated joint venture (JV) between Auckland Council and Waste Management NZ Ltd (WMNZ). The business venture was formed to manage, redevelop and operate the Whitford Sanitary Landfill and ancillary activities and to provide economic and environmentally safe disposal of solid waste generated in the geographic region of Auckland. WMNZ is the JV manger and operates the two WDS sites, Whitford Landfill and East Tamaki transfer station.WDS and its sites have received and process approximately 251,000 tonnes of waste each year.As part of WM, WDS is committed to reducing itscarbon footprint. Chapter 1 provides context on WDS, our impacts, and our approach on measuring our emissions. It also reports on our GHG emission results for our baseline year reporting period. Chapter 2 demonstrates our commitment to sustainability and climate change through our various emissions reduction targets and updates on our progress.
