Accreditation, recognition and what it means for you
Toitū Envirocare is accredited by JASANZ, the Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand, to International Standards ISO/IEC 17029, ISO 14065, ISO 14066 and ISO 17065 for the provision of accredited greenhouse gas validation, verification and certification. This is more than just a seal of approval — through their independent assessment and monitoring of our activities, JASANZ accreditation ensures that we meet the strictest international standards for independence, competence, and reliability.
Our accreditation gives us the authority to issue certifications internationally. This means that when you work with Toitū, you can trust that our certifications are credible, respected, and globally recognised.
JASANZ accreditation applies specifically to our Climate Impact certification programmes (Toitū Carbon Reduce and Toitū Net Carbon Zero) and our Greenhouse gas (GHG) verification services.
In addition to our JASANZ accreditation, Toitū maintains ICROA approval (About | ICROA) as an International safeguard to the sourcing and offsetting transactions associated with carbon credits.

Climate Related Disclosure Regulations (CRD) - New Zealand
Toitū Envirocare provides a range of CRD services to Climate Reporting Entities (CRE). Toitū adheres to all independence requirements established in the associated regulations and standards (including NZSAE 1). We strictly identify and evaluate previous engagements and services that we might have provided to a CRE, and ensure that there are no threats to our independence.

Safeguarding impartiality and independence
To safeguard impartiality and independence across our services, Toitū maintains an Independence, Impartiality and Conflict of Interest policy. The policy establishes processes and mechanisms, including integrity training, an annual and per-engagement conflict of interest declaration process, a gift register and strong contractual arrangements with all personnel. Toitū Envirocare also:
- Maintains an Independent Advisory Panel comprised of external members to formally monitor Toitū’s independence and impartiality processes and activities. Outputs from this committee are reported to Toitū’s senior leadership team and are presented to JASANZ
- Maintains an internal Independence & Impartiality panel for evaluation of engagements and opportunities
- Performs (at least) annual audits of its activities and of its outsourced partners and subcontractors.

If you’re not satisfied with our services, you can submit a complaint in writing to feedback@toitu.co.nz. Please include details, such as the your name, contact information, company (if applicable), and a description of the complaint. Providing supporting documentation, when available, is encouraged.

Audit appeals
Appeals are a vital part of maintaining the integrity and transparency of the audit and certification processes. All clients are entitled to appeal any audit or certification decision. All appeals will be reviewed fairly and independently.
Appeals must be received in writing through to feedback@toitu.co.nz, and provide detail on the decision for appeal, grounds for appeal and supporting documentation, when available.
